Lazy Weed Control
Have you got something that looks like this? It’s nothing more than a weedy mess. You could keep looking at it forever, but it’s not going to go away.

To pull these weeds out would be a huge job, and I guarantee that this spot is full of weed seeds so they’re bound to grow back anyway. So I want to tell you about my favourite lazy method for dealing with these weeds once and for all. It’s called ‘sheet mulching’ and there's really nothing to it.

First up, trim all the weeds right down to ground level. You could use a mower or brush cutter, even an old set of hedge trimmers. Leave all the weeds and trimmings sitting on the bed. It'll all be covered over later, but before you do, spread some blood and bone about and water it in well. That’ll help to feed the microorganisms that will turn these weeds into rich humus for the soil.

Next, go around with a sharp spade and cut some of the soil away from the edge. Then cover the whole lot thoroughly with layers of newspaper at least 6-7 sheets thick making sure you overlap them. All that’s left to do now is cover the whole lot with a good thick layer of mulch and you're done.

Your garden will be left looking much tidier and all of those weeds you've been cursing (or ignoring) for so long will be totally smothered, so they can’t grow back. If you want to plant it up, leave it to settle for a month or two. All you do then is simply move some mulch aside, cut a hole through the paper and plant in the normal way.

There you go, an easy and instant way to deal with menacing weeds in the garden without the frustration or the aching back.
